How the birthday calculator counts

  • Your age is counted in whole years, months and days, as it is on birthdays: a month after January 31 is the last day of February. If you were born on February 29, your birthday is counted on February 28 in common years.
  • Today is the date where you are, so the countdown changes at your midnight.
  • Weeks are numbered as on your calendars: from Monday, as in ISO 8601, or from Sunday, with week 1 holding January 1.
  • The season is the astronomical one, from the equinox or solstice, in the hemisphere you are in.
  • Your zodiac sign is the one the Sun was in on the day you were born, from its position computed with Astronomy Engine, in the time zone where you are. The dates that tables give for the signs are averages, a day off in some years.
  • The Chinese year begins at the Lunar New Year, in Beijing time. Some Chinese astrologers begin it at Lichun, around February 4, instead.
  • The Moon is shown at noon in your time zone.
  • The holidays are those of the country and the kinds of holidays chosen on the year calendar. A birthday that is a day off on a Monday or a Friday makes a long weekend.
  • The 1 billion seconds milestone is counted from midnight, so it is a day later if you were born after 10:13 PM.
  • The date of conception assumes that a pregnancy lasts about 38 weeks from fertilization, or 40 weeks from the start of the last menstrual period (source).
  • The result has its own address, which you can bookmark or share.
